"Need"

Hold me close to you, don’t let me go
Hold me like everyone else is my foe
Hold me forever, till my last breath
and hold me beyond, beyond my death.

Promise to never, ever let go of me
‘Cos we’re branches of the same tree
And my life relies on yours to be
Just like the waves do on the sea.

"Juniper & Kirca"

Juniper drew back the curtains & peeped out of the window, her breath misting the pane. She gazed out into the oppressive, unfriendly night, its darkness dense & forbidding. Silent tears rolled down her cheeks, forming a pool on the window sill. She stood there for a long time, unaware of the passage of time & unseeing of the sun’s arrival…

"You have now reached a state of maturity, Kirca! We can no longer harbor you in our homes. The time has come for you to seek out your destiny, to search for a heart that is willing to welcome you into itself. You must now set out in your search for your soul mate…Farewell, Kirca, till we meet again!”
Thus began Kirca’s journey, and his search for his true mate, one who would complete him, make him whole.
I seek you in every nook & cranny, in every room of every house.
You, within whom every passion I shall arouse!
This waiting period shall soon be over, oh mate of mine
& then thou shall be mine & this Kirca shall be thine!

And so Kirca set out of his ancestral home, away from his people & away from the city that had housed his race since the beginning of creation. His banishment comprised an ancient tradition peculiar to his race & so, instead of teary farewells, he was met with congratulatory greetings & relieved parents as he bade all of them goodbye forever…

"A Bittersweet Memory."

She was too small then,
to be able to remember much now,
but the pictures said it all…
The hugs, the smiles, the den,
they were happy together, and how!
He was a proud owner, and she the beautiful doll…

They stood hand-in-hand,
grinning sheepishly into the camera,
like discoverers of an unknown land.

"She..."

Like the wind in her eyes,
I flew into the sunrise.
The river shone from her lashes
& burnt my soul to ashes
She wanted to be freer than free,
The memory kept haunting me.
She said millions of words without speaking,
I could feel my resolve weakening.

"A Twisted Fate."

Tripping again & again on his own mistakes,
Failing to distinguish reality from the fakes,
He was trapped in his self-made cage!

A loner, if ever there was one,
His misery was disguised by his fun,
& from happiness, he was always on the run.

Seated by himself, his mood black as tar,
he found love in the empty jar.
He was the loneliest at that bar!

"The Beginning That Was The End"

The world came crashing down, looking at me with a frown.
Everything was falling into a dark, endless abyss, as I watched on, helpless.
I shivered with the burning cold of the night. Hell! I was scared, I confess.
Swirls of mist were closing in around me, obscuring, concealing what I couldn’t see.
My heart was cold, like a cube of ice. But I couldn’t calm down my emotions & they burnt like a cup of boiling tea.

"School Life"

when in school, all we did was crib and complain, you and I,
dying to start a new life, college life...wanting only to say 'bye'.
And now a year has flown by...we're in college, settling into a world unsure,
we miss school, we miss classes, we miss the time that was so pure...
soon we shall flourish, settle down and eventually perish,
but the time we spent in school, is time we shall always cherish!

"The Other Life..."

This is something I loved writing and it takes off from A tree. A rock. A cloud by Carson McCullers. I would request you to please read that in order to understand this story better...

*********

I
The cells of the zygote were fast dividing & differentiating…soon, a new living,
breathing organism came into existence…& waited for the right moment to announce its
arrival to the world.

"Dead Life"

Just when everything was supposed to get over, fate turned our lives upside down again
Like a fool, I was expecting an end, a sense of closure and then…
What was supposed to be a salvation, turned into loss…and pain, oh, the pain!
It was sheer torture, except it was worse than that…much worse.

I was the light that flickered before being completely consumed by the shadow
I tried to be a part of the dark, hoping to overcome them…the harbingers of my doom
But try as I might, I was unsuccessful, a misfit like dead flowers in a meadow…
But you…you who could’ve got us away, sat there like a helpless child.
